... we could change our skin colour?

Today I want to be red. And tomorrow black. Imagine we all could change our skin colour as fast and as many times as we want to, like a chameleon. The world would look much more colourful, wouldn’t it?

So, what if everybody could just adapt his skin colour to his daily feelings, or to the weather circumstances we’re going to be in? We could know and see a lot more about strangers we meet on the street, for instance if somebody is red he could be very angry or in love. But this also depends on how everybody defines colours as sense of meanings. Some people may see red as the colour of passion and love, others as the colour of great anger, since our head turns red when we are infuriated. But maybe there would develop a new sense of definition on colour meanings, which are valid for everybody, like a new language.

On the other hand if I’m going to a very sunny country, it would make sense to change my skin colour to black to avoid a sunburn wouldn’t it? If everybody was born with this kind of talent, we maybe wouldn’t have racism in our world.

One more possibility, where this new gift could be useful for us, would be for the army, the hunters, the biologists and other people who want to go undiscovered in the nature, since they could just turn green and it would be much more difficult to detect these persons in the fields or a forest for instance. I think that our whole way of life would change if we had this talent. Everything would be adapted to this. Maybe somebody would invent a dark coat to hide the today’s colour of people. Maybe this action would be deprecated amongst the population. Maybe people would be closer and strangers become friends faster, since they can see how a certain person feels like in that moment and under which (weather) circumstances they are. Maybe, maybe, maybe.

What do you think would happen? Let your creativity run wild and imagine your own scenario!
